Hemet Man Convicted Of Pimping, Pandering 22-Year-Old Woman

WESTMINSTER (CBSLA.com) — A Hemet man has been convicted of pimping a pandering a woman from Riverside County, the Orange County District Attorney's office announced Friday in a statement.

Jurors found 24-year-old Damaris Markyse Thompson guilty of one felony count each of pimping and pandering on Thursday.

Authorities say Thompson convinced a 22-year-old Jane Doe to go with him to Orange County in 2011. Later, he told the woman he owned her, and provided her with revealing clothes and a cell phone, the statement said.

"Thompson pimped the victim by having her perform commercial sex acts with sex purchasers and collecting the money she made," according to the statement.

Authorities further stated that the woman was threatened by Thompson, who placed his hands around her neck, when she attempted to leave.

Authorities subsequently located the woman on a street known for prostitution in Nov. 2011.

Thompson faces a maximum sentence of six years in state prison. He is expected to be sentenced on Oct. 2.
