Help Needed To Identify Hacienda Heights Park Robber

HACIENDA HEIGHTS (CBSLA.com) — Police need your help in identifying a man who robbed a woman at gunpoint inside a restroom at a Hacienda Heights park.

The 39-year-old victim told CBS2/KCAL9's Amber Lee that she was still  shaken up over what happened on Jan. 22. "It's hard to sleep at night," the woman said.

The robbery happened at about 3:35 p.m. at Countrywood Park at 16817 E. Copper Hill Road.

The mother-of-four said she stopped at the park to wait for her daughter's text and use the women's restroom. As she was getting out of the stall, the robber walked in, pointed a gun at her and demanded her purse.

He took off in an older model tan or brown, four-door Toyota Camry or Corolla, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

"He told me to give him whatever I had, and then I told him: Here, take my purse. And then he told me to go back into the he stall and wait there. And then he closed the door behind me. I waited 5-10 seconds, and then I ran," the victim recalled.

Fortunately, she still had her keys in her pocket and her phone in her car. "I ran down to see which way he went. After that, I ran back to the car. Then I called 911," the victim said.

Even though she only had $4 in her purse. Other items in there had sentimental value.

The robber was described as a man between 30 and 40 years old, 5 foot 8 inches tall, 180 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and a goatee.

Anyone with information on the man can contact Parks Bureau Detective Steven Lanigan at (661) 294-3544.
