Help Needed To Identify Armed Gas Station Robber In Montebello

MONTEBELLO (CBSLA.com) — Police asked for the public's help Thursday in identifying an armed gas station robber.

The robbery happened at about 3:57 a.m. on May 1 at a Chevron gas station, 500 N. Garfield Ave., Montebello police detectives said. A black, newer model Toyota Corolla parked at a pump, and the driver got out and followed an employee, who was outside into the gas station.

The man took a two-tone handgun, with a black grip and nickel-plated slide, from his waistband and demanded money from the register, police said.

Once open, the robber ordered the employee to empty the money from the drawer and give it to him. He then returned to his car and fled westbound on Beverly Boulevard out of sight, police said.

The robber got away with about $400 in various denominations.

Anyone with information about the robber's identity should contact Detective Adams at (323) 887-1200 ext. 256 or email cadams@cityofmontebello.com.
