Help Needed To Capture Metro Bus Shooter
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Police asked for the public's help Thursday to find who shot a man in the abdomen following an argument on a Metro bus.
The shooting happened at about 12:07 p.m. Monday on a Metro bus on Line 207, according to the Los Angeles County sheriff's transit policing division. The 30-year-old man's injury was discovered at Western Avenue and 60th Street.
The shooting was initially reported as a bystander caught in the cross-fire of a gang dispute.
After processing the crime scene and surrounding area, interviews with witnesses and a review of the bus's surveillance system, detectives determined that the gunman and the victim became involved in a verbal altercation not long after the suspect got onto the bus. The suspect took out a handgun and shot the man in the abdomen, then ran off the bus with a possible accomplice, authorities said.
The suspect was described as a black man between 18 and 20 years old, 5-foot-4 to 5-foot6, 140 to 150 pounds, last seen wearing a black baseball cap with a Chicago White Sox logo, a black T-shirt and blue jean shorts.
Sheriff's detectives say the suspect should not be approached and that he should be considered armed and dangerous.
