Rain Creates Dangerous Driving Conditions Across L.A.

UNIVERSAL CITY (CBSLA.com) — Heavy rain created some dangerous driving conditions Tuesday and resulted in numerous traffic collisions throughout Los Angeles.

The California Highway Patrol reports that officers were called to 120 traffic accidents as of 4 p.m. as compared to 70 on a normal day.

As KCAL9's Jeff Nguyen reports, traffic was slowed on the 101 Freeway approaching Universal City.

At least one stalled car was visible on the northbound lanes, requiring assistance from CHP officers.

Steady rain, heavy at times, pounded the Southland and prompted a flash flood warning in Yucaipa until 7 p.m.

A flash flood watch was expected to remain in effect through 6 a.m. Wednesday for Lancaster, Oxnard, and Palmdale.

One of the hardest hit areas was Camarillo, where mandatory evacuations remained in effect.

Conditions were expected to clear up by Thursday.
