HB Police Locate Father Of Missing Juvenile With Special Needs

HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Huntington Beach police have located the father of a critical missing juvenile found wandering the city Monday.

Officers responded to a call of a female juvenile on Gilbert Island in the area of Admiralty Drive and Pacific Coast Highway around 1:43 p.m.

A police spokesperson said she appeared to be special needs and non-verbal.

Officers went door to door in the neighborhood, spoke with residents and contacted public bus transportation and neighboring police agencies.

Police located the girl's father later Monday evening.

"At this time, it appears to be a miscommunication with family members as to a family member who was supposed to be watching her," said officer Jennifer Marlatt.

Officers were on scene.

No further details were immediately available.
