Halloween Comes Early For Babies In Cedars-Sinai's NICU

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Halloween came a little early for a very special group of babies at a hospital in Southern California.

The babies in the neonatal intensive care unit of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center were dressed up Friday in very intricate, handmade costumes.

The hospital says more than 40 costumes were sewn by nurses, social workers, and parent volunteers whose babies were previously in the unit.

The outfits were specifically designed for infants as small as 2 pounds.

"It's that sense of normalcy to have that opportunity to celebrate a day in the life in a place where you have no control and just the joy and the happiness to have that with their babies," said Randie Cloutier Chaine, a social worker.

The hospital says the costumes included pumpkins, butterflies, peas and corn, flowers, ladybugs, bumble bees, and Dory and Nemo.
