Habitat For Humanity, Lowe's Changing Lives A House At A Time
LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Dozens of volunteers made their way to the Lowe's home improvement parking lot in Long Beach on Friday, helping to frame a new house.
The effort was part of a day-long event to raise awareness of Habitat for Humanity and its mission to help low income families afford their own homes.
If all goes as planned, La Tonya Thompson's three-bedroom home should be ready by June.
"It's very exciting. It's been my dream since I was 22. So it's finally coming true," said Thompson, who was on site doing framing work on her home.
