Gunman In Houston Shooting Rampage Was From Southern California

RANCHO CUCAMONGA (CBSLA.com) — The gunman in Sunday's deadly shooting rampage at a tire and auto center in Houston was from the Inland Empire. One man was killed. At least five others, including two police officers, were wounded.

Sources identified the gunman as Dionisio Garza, 25, originally from Rancho Cucamonga. According to social media, his mother and father still live in the area.

Garza's Facebook page said he served in the military and did at least one tour of duty in Afghanistan.

While motive for the shooting rampage is unclear, Garza's father told Houston station KPRC: "We have not received confirmation, but I strongly suspect I really believe this is a PTSD thing. On the Internet he met some people or some people that believed like him. … It's better to go to Texas. He was trying to get us all to go over there and, you know, go live in a compound. That kind of talk, you know? That wasn't my son."

Evidence police found at the scene included a military-style bag that had a birth certificate and bullets inside, among other items.

The Harris County medical examiner's office Monday identified the dead victim as Eugene Linscomb, 56, who was a customer at the shop.
