Gunman Arrested On Suspicion Of Fatally Shooting His In-Laws In West Covina

WEST COVINA (CBSLA.com) — A gunman suspected of fatally shooting his in-laws in West Covina has been arrested, police said Thursday.

According to the West Covina Police Department, shooting unfolded around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 1300 block of East Oahu.

Police were sent to the neighborhood for report of several gunshots fired and "the sounds of children screaming."

Upon their arrival to the condominium, officers located a male suspect who surrendered without incident. A handgun was recovered at the scene.

Further investigation led officials to locate the bodies of a man and woman, both in their 60s.

Paramedics pronounced the victims dead at the scene. The victims have been identified as Aiping Diao, 60 and his wife Shu Zhang, 60, both of China. The couple was visiting their daughter at the time of their death.

Three uninjured children,  ages 8, 6 and 3, were found hiding inside a bathroom, police said.

Police arrested Caminero Wang, 43 of West Covina for suspicion of murder. He is the son-in-law of both victims. Wang is currently being held at the West Covina Police Department on a bail of $2 million. Arraignment is set for Friday at Pomona Superior Court.

The investigation is ongoing as the motive remains unclear.
