Fire Breaks Out Near Greek Theater, Griffith Observatory Evacuated

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) -- A small brush fire broke out near the Greek Theater in Griffith Park Friday morning, prompting authorities to order precautionary evacuations at Griffith Observatory.

Los Angeles County firefighters were working to extinguish the quarter-acre grass fire in the 2700 block of North Vermont Avenue at around 11:21 a.m.

Firefighters managed to extinguish the fire in about 45 minutes.

Officials say a helicopter crew was assisting in the firefighting effort.

No injuries were reported and no structures were damaged during the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
