'Great Bull Run' Will No Longer Be Held In Riverside County

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — A rock 'n' roll-style bull run, which was scheduled to take place next month in Temecula, will no longer be held in Riverside County, it was confirmed Thursday.

"The Great Bull Run" will now take place in the Los Angeles area, but the bull run has not yet confirmed which county will host the event.

The run's CEO, Rob Dickens, says the company was unable to attain the necessary permits in Riverside County, but a county official says a permit request was never submitted.

However, a new contract with a venue has been signed and the company will announce the date and location once permits are approved.

Some animal rights activists have voiced concern about the proposed run, but Dickens told CBS2 earlier this year that it's "much more tame than a rodeo. You don't have anyone strapped to your back kicking you in the side with spurs. Just like horse racing, nobody is sitting on top of them, whipping them to make them go faster."
