Grandmother Makes Good On Offer After Inadvertently Inviting Stranger To Thanksgiving

MESA, Ariz. (CBSLA.com) — An Arizona grandmother who accidentally invited a stranger to Thanksgiving made good on her offer.

Jamal Hinton and Wanda Dench didn't even know each other a week ago.

Dench, a grandmother, and the 17-year-old Hinton met after Dench accidentally sent him a text message about coming to Thanksgiving dinner.

Hinton, a high school student, jokingly asked her for a plate, and Dench said, "Sure!"

Now, both of them say they're grateful it happened.

"This has really touched my heart from all the people out there that have said the kindest things to me," said Dench. "I never expected this in a million years to happen to me."

Hinton said he almost didn't make it because his family was having dinner at the same time.

But he made it work.

"I loved just being here. I feel like we can connect more and bond. There are more nice people out in the world than I thought there were," he said.
