Good Samaritan Saves 4 People From Fiery Car Crash In Tarzana
TARZANA (CBSLA.com) — A Good Samaritan is being credited with saving lives after he sprang into action when a car burst into flames after crashing in Tarzana.
"When I arrived the car was already a little bit in flames, and then it just burst into flames," said Simon Warren.
He said he was just driving around when he saw the SUV. He was driving behind it when it suddenly swerved and crashed into a wall Saturday morning next to a church.
Warren said four people were inside the SUV including two who were trapped in the back.
"No one was doing anything so I had to step up. And that's what you do," Warren said.
As the flames began to intensify, Warren said he ran up to the vehicle.
"I dragged both of them out the back door, from the backseats on the passenger side in the rear," he said.
Moments after pulling the people to safety, the car was fully engulfed.
Emergency crews arrived and tended to the four people.
"I'm just glad I was there at the time. Got a little blood -- but I helped out. That's the main thing," he said.
Firefighters said if not for Warren, things could have been a lot worse.
Officials said the injuries sustained were all non-life threatening.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
