Good Samaritan Fatally Shot While Trying To Chase Down Purse Snatcher

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A man was fatally shot while trying to chase down one of two suspects who snatched a woman's purse on the outskirts of downtown Los Angeles.

The shooting near 14th Street and Long Beach Avenue happened at about 3:25 a.m. Saturday, Los Angeles police spokeswoman Officer Jenny Houser said.

Savoy Anderson, 37, of Los Angeles, died an hour later at a hospital, coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter said.
