Hundreds Of Glendale Residents Without Power After Transformer Explodes
GLENDALE (CBSLA.com) — 2,900 customers were left without power on an exceedingly hot Sunday afternoon, following what appeared to be a transformer explosion.
The Glendale department of Water and Power tweeted the outage around 11 a.m., and said crews were on the site looking to get the transformer back up as quickly as possible.

As temperatures reached 109 in areas around Los Angeles, use of power on air conditioners was expected to be high on Sunday, following a similarly warm Saturday.
The department said high power usage in excessive temperatures results in outages quite frequently, and urged patience as crews worked to restore power.
"Glendale Water & Power is encouraging all customers to conserve as much energy as possible during the heat wave...", the company said on their website.
The website also offers tips for how to save energy in temperature conditions such as what Los Angeles is currently experiencing.
It was reported at 4 p.m. that 2,000 of the 2,900 effected by the outage had their power restored, the city confirmed. Full restoration had been expected by 5:30 p.m.
