Glass Bottles Of Corona Extra Recalled; May Contain Small Particles Of Glass

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Corona is recalling select packages of its 12-ounce clear glass bottles of Corona Extra because they might contain small particles of glass.

The recall includes 12-ounce clear glass bottles in select six-pack, 12-pack and 18-pack packages, according to Constellation Brands, the owner of Corona. It's believed that less than 1 percent of the bottles produced from the plant are affected.

The problem was apparently caused by a production error at one of the four glass plants run by a third party manufacturer that supplies Constellation Brands with bottles.

"We are troubled by this development and are working proactively with our distributors, retailers and consumers to resolve this situation as quickly as possible," said Bill Hackett, president of Constellation Brands Beer Division.

The production codes for affected packages are available on Corona's website. Consumers who have one of the affected beers can call 1-866-204-9407 for instructions on receiving reimbursement.
