Girl Who Was Nearly Kidnapped In Canyon Country Found, Suspect In Custody

CANYON COUNTRY (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say they have found the girl who was nearly kidnapped by a man when a witness intervened.

A witness reported seeing a man grab and try to take a teenage girl standing at a bus stop at Jakes Way and Sierra Highway in Canyon Country Wednesday at about 8:30 a.m., Los Angeles County sheriff's Deputy Ryan Rouzan said. The witness, who was in a car, stopped and yelled at the suspect, who released the girl.

The witness said he told the girl to run and call the sheriff's department, authorities said, then waited with an eye on the suspect until deputies could come and take him into custody.

The suspect was identified as Guillermo Lomeli Ceniceros, 39, of Rosamond.

Detectives say they have located and are now in contact with a 13-year-old girl they believe to be the victim in this attempted kidnapping, sheriff's Deputy Joshua Dubin said. More witnesses have also come forward in this incident, he said.

Ceniceros is being held at the station on $100,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Friday.

Detectives are still seeking witnesses. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident can call Detective Bryne at the Santa Clarita Sheriff's Station at (661) 255-1121 or email CLBryne@lasd.org.
