CBS News Los Angeles

A 19-year-old accused of shooting a man to death in Orange County was arrested by police while trying to cross the Mexico-U.S. border.

The Garden Grove Police Department said the suspect, Chan Tham Giang, shot the victim in the head on Feb. 21 in a parking lot near the 9600 block of Garden Grove Boulevard. The victim, 26-year-old Trieu Huynh, initially survived the gunshot wound and was taken to a nearby hospital. However, he died three days later.

Investigators tracked down Giang on Feb. 26 in the border town of San Ysidro. Authorities detained him as he tried to walk across the border and into Mexico.

Police transported Giang back to Orange County and booked him into jail.

Detectives believe there are more people involved in the case. They urged anyone with information to contact Detective Rogers at (714) 741-5413 or Garden Grove PD's dispatch at (714) 741-5704.
