Garden Grove Officer Injured In Crash With Driver Suspected Of DUI

GARDEN GROVE (CBSLA.com) — A Garden Grove police officer was injured when a driver suspected of DUI collided with his vehicle early Monday.

The crash, which occurred around 3:45 a.m., was captured on the squad vehicle's dashboard camera.

Officer Jared Doyle and the motorist were taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange for treatment.

"Instantly, I kind of thought about my family, because I have a wife and daughter at home," Doyle said.

Doyle had responded to a call regarding an intoxicated man wanting to get into his car.

While the police unit was reported to have handled the collision well, the other driver's vehicle sustained major damage.

Garden Grove police are handling the investigation.

The suspect remained hospitalized Monday evening.
