Funeral To Be Held In Downey For Cal State Long Beach Student Killed In Paris Attacks

DOWNEY (CBSLA.com) — A funeral service will be held Friday for a local 23-year-old victim of the recent Paris terrorist attacks.

On Nov. 13, Nohemi Gonzalez, of El Monte, was killed as she ate with friends at a popular bistro in Paris called La Belle Equipe when the area came under attack by terrorists.

Officials reported 129 others were killed during coordinated attacks that erupted at the cafe, a soccer stadium and at the Bataclan Theater where a Palm Desert-based band was performing.

Gonzalez was one of 17 Cal State Long Beach students attending the Strate College of Design in Paris as part of a semester abroad program.

She was a senior majoring in industrial design.

Since the attacks, a series of gatherings have been held in honor of Gonzalez.

Three days after her death, about 500 people gathered at CSULB for a remembrance ceremony.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. at the Calvary Chapel in the city of Downey.
