Funeral Held For Former Child Actor After Being Hit By Alleged Drunk Driver

SIMI VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — A funeral was held Tuesday for a former child actor who was struck and killed by an alleged drunk driver in Woodland Hills.

Jordan Oschin, 32, who appeared on shows like "The Wonder Years", "Chicago Hope", and "The George Carlin Show" in the 1990s, was returning home following a Valentine's Day dinner with his girlfriend. He was hit by a vehicle, which was driven by a man police suspect was under the influence, as he crossed Burbank Boulevard near Farralone Avenue in Woodland Hills.

The accident happened just steps away from the home he shared with his mother.

While Oschin's career, which started at the age of five, never expanded to the big times, he was able to work consistently on a number of shows, including "Grey's Anatomy" and "General Hospital".

Oschin's neighbor, Joan Casesse, visited a memorial that was erected near the crash site, and said she hopes the city might learn from the incident.

"This stretch of road is dangerous," Casesse said. "People drive super fast, and crossing right here."

The driver, who was arrested and booked on suspicion of drunk driving, is out on bail as authorities await the results of his blood test.

Oschin's mother, meanwhile, said that, no matter where you are, you should always be on the alert, in order to avoid a similar accident.

"There's a lesson to be learned," Carol Oschin said. "Wherever you cross, even if you're in a cross walk, there's somebody speeding. There's somebody drunk.  And then the innocent people are the ones that get hurt and have to leave this planet early."
