Fundraising Campaign Yields $87,000 For Ice Cream Vendor Violently Robbed Of $80

NORTH HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A North Hollywood ice cream vendor beaten and robbed last month received a check Thursday for more than $87,000.

Police say two men approached Juan Martinez back in October on Vanowen Street and Lemp Avenue, and after beating him, robbed him of his week's earnings of $80.

Initially, the GoFundMe page had a goal to raise $15,000.

But on Thursday, Martinez and his family were presented with a check for $87,054.
