Fundraiser Held For San Bernardino Officer Critically Injured In the Line Of Duty

YUCAIPA (CBSLA.com)   —  A fundraiser was held in Yucaipa Saturday evening to help raise money for Officer Gabriel Garcia who was shot in the head and critically injured last week while responding to a disturbance call.

KCAL9's Laurie Perez said a Dairy Queen and the neighboring Queen Bean Caffee shop both agreed to give 15 percent of all proceeds from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday to the officer and his family.

Garcia remains in critical condition at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.

Perez said the officer's many friends and family present -- as well as total strangers -- wanted to take part just to help.

In fact, this was one of several planned fundraisers planned this weekend.

Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff Ben Zaredini also raffled off several prizes Saturday at the Quakes Epicenter Stadium in Rancho Cucamonga.

The fundraiser in Yucaipa drew especially large crowds, Perez reported.

"They're here at a moments notice when we need them. they help us, so we're doing what we can to help them," Dairy Queen asst. manager Meghan Nielson said about law enforcement.

"You call them and they are there," said Arlo Gutierrez.
