Tanker Truck Carrying 9,000 Gallons Of Gasoline Overturns On 10 Freeway In Fontana

FONTANA (CBSLA.com) — A 9-hour traffic nightmare in the Inland Empire has come to an end after crews removed an overturned tanker truck that spilled gasoline on the 10 Freeway.

The tanker was carrying nearly 9,000 gallons of gasoline when it collided with a silver sedan and overturned on the right shoulder of the freeway in Fontana Thursday afternoon.

Following the crash, a couple hundred gallons of fuel were seen leaking onto the westbound lanes.

Initially, both directions were closed, but as of 10 p.m., the freeway was back open.

Many drivers sat in traffic for hours while crews worked to get the lanes back open.

"I've been on the road for five and half hours and I got stuck in this 45 minutes away from home," said one motorist.

Even side streets were impacted.

Both drivers each sustained minor injuries.
