From Show Business To Shoe Business, Sarah Jessica Parker Branches Out
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Actress and style icon Sarah Jessica Parker is now in the shoe business.
The "Sex and the City" star launched her own line at the Grove Thursday.
The exclusive line -- sold only at Nordstroms -- also includes coats and handbags.
CBS2's Amy Johnson was at the Grove and got a sneak peak.
"I've loved shoes since I was a very young person," Parker said, "but I didn't have access. I had two pairs a year when I was a girl growing up and a lot of hand-me-downs. And as I got older, and started earning some money of my own, I bought shoes."
Her new line is called the SJP Collection and it's made in partnership -- of course -- with the people who make Manolo Blahniks, the shoes made famous on "SATC."
"I really wanted to find the right partner, a partner that I knew," said Parker, "could make a shoe I could believe in. One I could offer up honorably, a shoe that would last for 5-10 years. A shoe that would be worth every hard-earned dollar that we are asking for."
The SJP Collection includes 25 different styles -- from the signature Carrie, from strappy sandals to pumps, booties and flip-flops.
Each of the shoes are also named.
"A lot of the names come from women I've admired. Some are women I've never met, some are friends. Names I never got to name my children," she laughs.
The shoes range in price from $200-500.
Many lined up to meet the actress and fashionista.
Shopper Sammy Sohl bought the Ettas.
"They were the first shoes that I saw in the whole collection, and I fell in love instantly," said Sohl.
