Freeway Shooting Reported In Lakewood Area

LAKEWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Authorities on Thursday afternoon searched for shell casings on a thoroughfare in Lakewood after a reported freeway shooting.

The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. and prompted the temporary closure of the transition road from the westbound 91 Freeway to the northbound 710 Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP says the victim sustained an injury to the leg, but it was unknown if that was the result of a gunshot wound.

The CHP also said the victim's vehicle also apparently sustained damage.

Authorities believe the victim drove home, which is where the fire department responded to his residence, according to initial reports.

No suspect details were immediately released.

As of 4:47 p.m., the transition roads had reopened. For updates on traffic conditions in the area, tune-in to KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO.
