Free Health Care Clinic Taking Place Through Sunday In Exposition Park

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Southland residents without health insurance received free care Thursday as part of a four-day clinic at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena.

The clinic, operated by Los Angeles nonprofit Care Harbor, will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Sunday.

More than 4,000 wristbands were handed out last weekend for the fifth annual event, which provides vision, dental and health care to under-served populations, as well as follow-up care and assistance with insurance signups.

As many as 1,000 people a day have been treated at past clinics. During a clinic in 2012, Care Harbor provided free medical services to more than 3,700 patients with an estimated value of $2.1 million.
