Free Medical, Dental Services Offered At LA Convention Center

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Free medical and dental services were offered Wednesday at the Los Angeles Convention Center for uninsured and under-insured residents.

The event will operate on a first-come, first-serve basis from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Thursday, and from 7 a.m. to noon on Friday.

Thousands of healthcare professionals and volunteers took part in the no-cost clinic.

Residents who attended the event did not need to provide insurance or identification. No appointment was needed other than for major surgical procedures, which require pre-surgery visits.

Free on-site services included primary care visits, consultation by medical specialists including heart evaluation and gastroenterology, neurology, pulmonology, rheumatology and pediatrics, and women's health services including pap smears and mammography.

Specialists in podiatry, immunizations, root canals, pharmacy, eyeglass fittings, examinations and STD screenings were also available.

The event was organized by Your Best Pathway to Health, a service of Adventist-Laymen's Services  Industries, in partnership with the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Adventist Health, Loma Linda University Health and other entities.

To schedule surgical procedures, patients should call (888) 447-2849.
