Fountain Valley Elementary School Closed After Suspicious Package Located

FOUNTAIN VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — A Fountain Valley school was closed Monday after a suspicious package was located.

The item, described as a plastic pipe with two caps on the ends, was located around 7:15 a.m. at Tamura Elementary School, 17340 Santa Suzanne St., Fountain Valley police said.

"A suspicious object was found this morning at Tamura School. In order to take every safety precaution, the police were contacted and have directed staff to close down Tamura School," school officials said in a statement to parents. "The campus will remain closed today."

The object was determined to be not explosive and the school was deemed safe but classes remained canceled for the day.
