Former UCLA Associate Athletic Director Pleads No Contest In Child-Pornography Case
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced Monday that a former UCLA associate athletic director plead no contest to one misdemeanor count of possession of child pornography.
Michael Sondheimer, 59, was immediately sentenced to three years summary probation and ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, officials said.
Superior Court Judge Shelly Torrealba ordered Sondheimer to attend sex offender counseling for one year, the District Attorney's Office said.
On April 24, 2013, Sondheimer was found in possession of child pornography on his work-issued laptop computer, prosecutors said.
Officials said Sondheimer was also instructed by Torrealba to forfeit the computer containing the child-pornography images.
Sondheimer worked at UCLA for 36 years and resigned amid allegations of engaging in inappropriate behavior with children on the Internet.
