Former Soap Star Reportedly On Life Support Following Car Crash

LOS ANGELES (CBSA.com)  —  Former soap actor Nathaniel Marston is reportedly fighting for his life following a car crash Friday.

His mother -- Elzabeth Jackson -- relayed the news to his fans on her Facebook wall.

She said if Marston, 40, lives he would likely be paralyzed and have to live using a ventilator. His mother said he broke ribs, a shoulder, some vertebrae and his neck in the crash. He also has a collapsed lung. "God, please give me strength," she wrote.

The crash reportedly occurred near Reno, Nevada.

The Connecticut-born Marston played Eddie Silva on CBS's now defunct "As the World Turns" from 1998-2000. He was nominated as Best Male Newcomer on the Soap Opera [Digest] Awards in 1999.

He went on to star on ABC's also defunct "One Life to Live" as Al Holden from 2001-2003. After he was let go, the fans clamored for his return and he came back as Michael McBain from 2003-2007.

In the last few years, Marston had several run-ins with the law. In 2007, he was arrested after fighting with three people in New York City. In 2010, he plead guilty to punching a police officer who was trying to break up the fight. (He reportedly took an anger management class to avoid jail time.)

His mother wanted to relay to his fans that police told her that her son was sober at the time of the crash.

Marston's other credits include the film "The Craft," and  TV shows "Castle," "Blue Bloods," and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit."
