Former LAUSD Teacher Sentenced To 12 Years In Prison For Sexually Abusing 3 Students, Relative

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Former LAUSD teacher Robert Pimentel was sentenced to 12 years in prison Thursday for sexually abusing three students and a female relative.

Pimentel, who taught at George De La Torre Jr. Elementary School in Wilmington, pleaded no contest in May to one count of continuous sexual abuse and three counts of performing a lewd act on a child.

As part of a plea deal, Pimentel will also be required to register as a sex offender, according to Deputy District Attorney Lee Ashley Cernok.

Pimentel was also ordered to stay away from the victims for 10 years.

The victims were between the ages of 6 and 10 when the abuse occurred, the DA said.

Attorneys for 17 girls who allege they were abused by Pimentel held a press conference following the hearing.

So far, two lawsuits have been filed against the LAUSD on behalf of 15 alleged victims.
