Former LAPD Officer Sentenced To Prison For Attacking Estranged Wife

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)   —  Authorities said a former LAPD officer was sentenced to prison Thursday after entering a no contest plea to an assault charge on his estranged wife.

Robert Figueroa, 29, was immediately sentenced to four years after admitting to injuring a spouse with an added allegation of causing great bodily injury.

Figueroa was sentenced by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Scott Millington of the Inglewood Branch.

Deputy District Attorney Sam Ahmadpour said Figueroa went to his estranged wife's apartment on May 17 and choked her until she became unconscious. He also tied her up, Ahmadpour said.
