Former Laker Robert Horry Involved In Injury Collision With Motorcyclist

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say Former Los Angeles Lakers star Robert Horry was driving a car that collided with a motorcycle, leaving the rider hospitalized.

Horry, 43, was driving a 2014 Infiniti that collided with a 2013 Yamaha motorcycle at about 5:10 p.m. Tuesday on the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway in the southwest Los Angeles area near Inglewood, according to the CHP.

The motorcyclist, identified as Xerxes Baldonasa, 44, of Long Beach, was taken to a hospital for moderate injuries, CHP officials said.

Horry, whose city of residence was listed as Richmond, Texas, was not injured.

According to the CHP's preliminary investigation, Horry was driving in the far left lane and Baldonasa was riding his motorcycle between the of double yellow lines that separate the carpool lane and the left lane, approaching the left rear of the Infiniti.

"(Horry) attempted to change lanes from the No. 1 lane into the (High Occupancy Vehicle) lane, crossing over the double yellow lines as (the motorcycle) approached (the Infiniti)," the CHP reported. "This movement caused (the Infiniti) to collide into (the motorcycle)."

The accident is under investigation. Neither motorist was arrested.

Horry played for the Lakers between 1997 and 2003. He has also played for the Houston Rockets, the Phoenix Suns and the San Antonio Spurs, and has the distinction of being one of three players who has won seven NBA Championship rings, three of which were won with the Lakers.
