Former Glendale Mayor Sentenced To Year In Jail For Embezzling $304K From Farmers' Market
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A former Glendale mayor Monday was sentenced to a year in jail after being convicted of embezzling more than $300,000 from a Montrose farmers' market.
John Drayman, 55, pleaded guilty in March to one count each of embezzlement by a public or private officer, filing a false tax return and perjury by declaration. He was ordered to pay $304,853 in restitution to the Montrose Shopping Park Association and $14,016 to the state's Franchise Tax Board, officials said.
Drayman was indicted in April 2012 for the crimes committed between January 2004 and April 2011 while he was a director of the Montrose Shopping Park Association's Harvest Market.
After his prison term, Drayman will be on probation for five years.
