First Responders From 9/11, San Bernardino Attacks Come Together
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — On the eve of 9/11, three firefighters from New York made a special trip to the San Bernardino International airport to show their support for the San Bernardino first responders who are still trying to make sense of the mass murders that occurred last December.
The event featured a tug-of-war, an air show, a music show, and a car show.
"One of the first things we did when we came here was pay our respects at the regional center," FDNY firefighter Tim Carroll said.
The firefighters met with first responders from the San Bernardino attack, but will fly back home tonight to get back to New York in time for the 15th anniversary of 9/11,
"Tomorrow's the most difficult day on the calendar for me," FDNY Batallion Chief Frank Leeb said.
He added that San Bernardino firefighters really want to know about the recovery process from what they witnessed.
Leeb admitted that the New York first responders aren't certain how much they've actually recovered in 15 years.
