Firefighting Helicopters Make For Dramatic Backdrop As Couple Weds In Corona

CORONA (CBSLA.com) — Water-dropping helicopters fighting a wildfire in Orange County made for a dramatic and memorable backdrop for a couple who got married in nearby Corona.

Behind Ashley and Chris Geraurd's wedding at Eagle Glen Golf Club, choppers dropped down to soak up water from the lake. The noise drowned out the ceremony on Friday.

"Their facial expressions. Their body language told me what they were doing," Carrie Fairchild, a friend, said.

But that wasn't all.

The smoke from the Silverado Canyon fire also served as a backdrop.

"I'm not going to let it ruin my day. Actually, let me rephrase that. I'm not going to let it ruin her day," Chris told CBS2's Crystal Cruz.

"Our. Our day," the bride corrected.

"It was definitely hard to hear. We were in the front row," the bride's father said.

And while some brides may have been bothered by the continual buzzing in the background, Ashley said, "It was a little noisy but it's okay."

She added, "It's perfect. I couldn't ask for anything else. It's beautiful."
