Navy Seal Killed During Parachute Training Exercise In Perris

PERRIS (CBSLA.com/AP) — A U.S. Navy Seal was killed Wednesday during a parachute training exercise in Riverside County.

Paramedics responded just before 9:10 a.m. near Richard Street and Highway 74 in the unincorporated area of Perris, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

According to the Naval Special Warfare Group ONE, the victim was assigned to the West Coast-based Naval Special Warefare unit, and died from injuries sustained during a training exercise.

The identity and gender will be released following family notification.

Fire Department Spokeswoman Jody Hagemann, no further details are being released at this time due to the victim's involvement with the military.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
