Firefighters knock down 25 acre brush fire in Sylmar
Firefighters handled a large brushfire in Sylmar Thursday afternoon.
They were first called to the scene of the fire, burning near 15278 W. Lakeside Street at about 2:30 p.m. where a little over a half-an-acre were burning, posing a threat to a nearby residence, according to Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
By 3:20 p.m., LAFD detailed that the blaze had erupted to engulf more than seven acres.
Los Angeles County Fire Department crews were also called to assist the more than 100 LAFD firefighters to defend structures in the area.
Prange said crews managed to stop the forward progress of the fire at about 25 acres by 3:35 p.m.
No structures were damaged in the fire and no injuries were reported.
Investigators remained on scene to determine a cause for the fire.
