Firefighters Rescue Dog Trapped in Temecula Drain Pipe

TEMECULA (CBSLA.com) — Firefighters performed what is called a "technical rescue" on Saturday night to remove a dog trapped in a drain pipe, the Riverside County Fire Department said.

At 10:23 p.m. Saturday, a man and his Great Pyrenees dog became stuck in a drain pipe in the 25000 block of Avenida Del Oro in Temecula, said April Newman of the Riverside County Fire Department.

The man was able to free himself but the dog remained trapped. Twenty-one firefighters spent about two hours cutting the pipe open to reach the dog, Newman said.

It was not clear how the man or the dog ended up inside the pipe.

The dog was freed at 12:06 a.m.
