Firefighters Extinguish Blaze At Marijuana Grow In South LA

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Firefighters extinguished a blaze on Monday that erupted in a commercial building in South Los Angeles.

Shortly before 5:30 a.m., crews were sent to the 5700 block of Holmes Avenue for report of a fire burning within a single story building, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Upon their arrival, authorities located heavy smoke billowing from the building with flames burning through the attic area.

As firefighters made entry, they discovered a marijuana grow inside.

About a half hour later, authorities extinguished the fire.

At this time, it remains unclear if the grow operation is illegal.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
