VENTURA (CBSLA.com) — Firefighters contained a blaze Saturday that broke out in an attached garage overnight.

According to the City of Ventura Fire Department, crews were sent around 12:48 a.m. to a single family residence located in the 1300 block of Coventry Avenue for report of a structure fire.

Once on scene, firefighters said they found residents attempting to extinguish flames, located in an attached garage, with a garden hose.

Authorities explained about nine firefighters quickly contained the blaze.

"Fire damage was contained to the garage and adjacent attic space," said Battalion Chief Kris McDonald. "There was only minor smoke damage inside the living area of the residence."

No injuries were reported, and no residents were displaced as a result of the fire.
