Firefighters Battle Huge Blaze At South LA Recycling Plant

SOUTH LA (CBSLA.com) — More than 50 firefighters battled a large fire at a recycling center in South LA Thursday.
The fire -- reported just after 5:20 p.m. -- burned at 1981 W. Slauson Avenue.
Large plumes of smoke were visible for miles. Around 6:10 p.m. the blaze was almost completely out. The black smoke gave way to white smoke which firefighters consider a good sign.
Erik Scott with the Los Angeles Fire Department said the fire was completely knocked down in about an hour and 20 minutes.
No injuries have been reported.
No other structures were damaged.
The DWP was called to the scene to help out with downed power lines touched off by the fire.
