Fire Evacuates Disneyland Parking Structure, Several Cars Damaged

ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) – Authorities say no foul play is suspected in a two-alarm blaze that damaged several vehicles and forced the evacuation of a Disneyland parking structure Monday evening.

The fire broke out before 4:37 p.m. on the second floor of the Mickey and Friends parking structure at 1313 Disneyland Dr. Anaheim Fire & Rescue crews responded to find several vehicles ablaze. Cell phone video captured footage of smoke pouring out of the structure.

The structure was evacuated. It took firefighters about 30 minutes to extinguish the fire. AF&R reports seven Disney cast members were treated for smoke inhalation. Four of the seven were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Four vehicles were completely destroyed, the fire department said. Another four sustained major damage. Between one and three vehicles had minor damage. The total damage to the vehicles was estimated at $180,000.

Dozens of Disneyland visitors were congregated outside the lot for several hours waiting to retrieve their vehicles. The lot was eventually fully reopened.

"We've been waiting in the parking lot for a while, but there's no bathrooms near here, so I've considered walking back downtown," one woman told KCAL9.

Foul play was not suspected, the fire department said. The cause however, remains under investigation.
