Fire Damages Upper Floors Of Mid-City Duplex

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The upper section of a Mid-City duplex was damaged Wednesday in a non-injury fire, authorities said.

The fire in the 1400 block of South Ellsmere Avenue was reported at 2:27 a.m., Los Angeles City Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said. The fire was knocked down in a little over half an hour.

An occupant of an upper floor unit initially fought the blaze with a fire extinguisher before escaping from the duplex, Stewart said.

No injuries were reported. Neither the cause of the blaze nor the resulting monetary loss were immediately determined.
