Fire Crews Battle Blaze At Pico-Union Paint Store

PICO-UNION (CBSLA) — Fire crews battled a blaze outside of a paint store in Pico-Union Tuesday evening.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the blaze started at about 6:30 p.m. outside of the shop in the 1600 block of Vermont Avenue.

The heat from the fire caused a number of paint cans and other paint-related canisters to explode as crews battled the blaze.

Fire crews were able to put out the blaze in 34 minutes and prevented the flames from extending into any structures — limiting damage to multiple vehicles.

A firefighter suffered minor injuries after tripping over a firehose on scene and was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The cause of the fire and cost of damage were not immediately known.
