Female Suspect Taken Into Custody After Barricade

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities say a female suspect wanted for strong-arm robbery has been taken into custody after barricaded herself in a northeast Los Angeles home for three hours.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department says its SWAT team deployed a "diversionary device" outside the home on the 5700 block of Aldama St. in Highland Park Monday at 1:45 p.m.

The female suspect and five others inside the home came out of the house and surrendered to authorities without incident.

An additional man, initially detained outside of the home before the barricade situation, was also taken into custody. Authorities said he had a gun.

The department did not identify either individual in custody.

Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Richard French says LAPD patrol units, whose area includes Highland Park, assisted deputies.
