Female Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Train In Pomona

POMONA (CBSLA.com) — Police Thursday investigated the circumstances surrounding the death of a female pedestrian in Pomona.

Shortly after 1 a.m., officers were sent to the area of First Street and Palomares Avenue for report of a pedestrian being struck by a train.

According to the Pomona Police Department, an adult female was pronounced dead at the scene upon officers arrival.

The victim's identity is being withheld pending family notification.

Union Pacific Railroad Police responded to assist in the investigation.

Palomares Avenue will remain closed for several hours in both directions at First Street, police said.

Motorists were urged to use either Garey or Towne avenues to avoid the railroad tracks until the roadway is re-opened.
