Father Killed After Fire Erupts In Lucerne Valley Home

LUCERNE VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — Firefighters Wednesday were on the scene of a fatal residential fire that erupted in San Bernardino County.

According to the San Bernardino County Fire Department, crews were sent just before 2 a.m. to a home located in the 32100 block of Topaz Road for report of a fire burning in a single family dwelling.

Upon their arrival, firefighters learned the fire first burned in a car located outside, which quickly spread into the house.

Firefighters explained a family of seven managed to escape from the flames.

An adult man, who was the father and husband to the family, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

No other injuries were reported.

Authorities said it took about 10 minutes for firefighters to extinguish the blaze.

Damage to the home has been considered a total loss.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
